Cody Country
Chamber of Commerce
- Visitor Center
The Cody Country Chamber of Commerce asked April to design, film, and edit a promotional video for the spring of 2020 to help visitors and locals understand which businesses would be open and which had COVID-19 restrictions or requirements. You can see that video here.
In 2016 and 2017, April worked part time as the Assistant Manager of Visitor Services for the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center in Cody, Wyoming. Nearly 500,000 visitors go through the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park each year and many stop in Cody on that trek. The town's financial health is clearly tied to tourism. By 2016, the Chamber's social media platforms had been ignored for years. April worked with Chamber staff and businesses to reconnect with the community online, in addition to her duties overseeing Visitor Center staff and working directly with visitors several days per week.
These efforts led to more interaction with the community on social media and the Chamber/Visitor Center became viewed by locals as the place to know what was happening around town. The Chamber later hired a full time staffer dedicated to Chamber affiliated events and keeping up with social media postings

- Updated information, images, and logos on Twitter and Facebook, and started Instagram.
- Claimed and corrected numerous errors for the Chamber's Google Business listing.
- Worked with Google to ensure their Maps Team knows when Yellowstone is opened or closed; many visitors were being routed through the park during the winter when only one road is partially open.
- Created social media posting plan for the season and trained others in how to post as the Chamber.
- Gathered event information from area businesses and organizations and began posting event listings every Monday and Friday; these listings were then reposted by other area organizations.
- Presented positive results and explained process to the Chamber Board.
